Pap Smear
Pap smears are used primarily to detect cancer of the uterine cervix or precancerous conditions - abnormalities of the cervix that may lead to cancer.

Abnormal Pap Smears
The Pap test is a simple procedure: while the speculum is in place, cells are first skimmed from the surface of the cervix, then smeared onto a glass slide, and sent to a laboratory for staining and micros-copic examination. The results of your Pap can be:
Class I. Normal
Class II. Possibly normal
Class III. Abnormal
Class IV. Abnormal, carcinoma in situ
Class V. Abnormal

Hysterectomy
Is the surgical procedure to remove the uterus.
The uterus may be removed through a cut in the abdomen or through the vagina. The method used depends on the reason for the surgery and the findings of a pelvic exam.

Uterine Prolapse
Falling or sliding of the uterus from its normal position in the pelvic cavity into the vaginal canal.

Cystocele occurs when the wall between a woman's bladder and her vagina weakens and lets the bladder droop into the vagina. This condition may cause discomfort and problems with emptying the bladder

Laparoscopy
Is the insertion of a slender light -containing "telescope" into the abdomen to provide your doctor with a direct view of the abdominal organs.

Laparoscopy can be use to diagnose injuries or diseases involving the female reproductive organs.

Colposcopy
Is a procedure that allows the doctor to see the surface of the cervix and the vagina with a special microscope (colposcope) It is used to find abnormal parts of the cervix and take a sample, to be able to diagnose cancer and other abnormalities.

Sterilization by Laparoscopy
Surgery performed to prevent a woman from getting pregnant. It is meant to be permanent. The doctor uses a device like a small telescope, called a laparoscope, to look at the pelvic organs and to block the fallopian tubes.

Birth Control Pills
This pills contain acombination of two hormones :progestin and estrogen. The added estrogen prevents pregnancy by stopping the development of the egg in the ovary.

Tubal Ligation
Is an operation which closes the fallopian tubes preventing fertilization of the woman's egg by the sperm.
Sterilization should be considered permanent.

Depo-Provera Inyection
Is an injection you get from the doctor every three months. When taking as scheduled-just 4 times a year it's more than 99% effective.
