Pap Smear
Pap
smears are used primarily to detect cancer of the uterine cervix
or precancerous conditions - abnormalities of the cervix that
may lead to cancer.

Pap Smears
The
Pap test is a simple procedure: while the speculum is in place,
cells are first skimmed from the surface of the cervix, then
smeared onto a glass slide, and sent to a laboratory for staining
and micros-copic examination. The results of your Pap
can be:
Class I. Normal
Class II. Possibly normal
Class III. Abnormal
Class IV. Abnormal, carcinoma
in situ
Class V. Abnormal
Hysterectomy
Is the surgical procedure to remove the uterus.
The
uterus may be removed through a cut in the abdomen or through
the vagina. The
method used depends on the reason for the surgery and the
findings of a pelvic exam.

a procedure that allows the doctor to see the surface of the cervix
and the vagina with a special microscope (colposcope) It is used
to find abnormal parts of the cervix and take a sample, to be
able to diagnose cancer and other abnormalities.
